North Yorkshire

Concept Design for clients in North Yorkshire - May, 2025.

The brief was to create a garden which incorporated a water feature as a focal point from the rear patio area of the property, whilst making the best of the sloping nature of the site, and to make the garden more attractive to wildlife. Our approach was to define the slope by designing a scheme which split the garden into tiers using natural stone retaining walls which act as backdrops for planting, and to incorporate a single curvilinear gravel and stone plank pathway which connects the rear and front garden areas for continuity and coherence.

Multi-stem Amelanchier and Pine trees, and pleached Hornbeam hedging are used to provide height and boundary marking, whilst towards the front of the property, Birch trees with wildflower underplanting are introduced to create a woodland feel. An array of new planted borders have been created across the various tiers using palette of mixed perennial plants, grasses, shrubs, climbers, and bulbs are used across the site to create aesthetic and wildlife interest year-round.
