Wellington Square

A gorgeous setting in the heart of Harrogate required a sensitive touch to the materials palette to ensure the new landscape fitted in with the Georgian terrace house. Our clients brief was ‘Give me a garden full of colour and joy, but please no lawn and It must not look new’.

This compact, south facing garden with challenging access was cluttered with garden paraphernalia upon arrival. We stripped it back to a blank canvas, cranked our design through 45 degrees to give a sense of space, leaving the beautiful old apple tree for character. The materials chosen were all locally sourced, reclaimed York stone paving flags and granite setts from the street in Bradford.

The end result is a compact, sunny garden with numerous zones to sit and enjoy a gin and tonic on a warm sunny night.
